If you cannot go to a private school, York is your best bet. The students really encourage some spirit and I have met numerous friendly people there, most of which were smokers, and every here and there you will find absolute angels of teachers, ones who truly care about their students and try to understand them.
The school has simply a friendly appearance and the only people who speak very highly of the school are the few who get constant good grades and little to no personal or home issues.
In my experience, I have met a teacher that is not only a pervert but ignores rules completely. A teacher that actively verbally abuses her students and numerous teachers who don't know how to do their job.
The school does indeed have a drug issue concerning its troubled students. However none of these students are bullies or misbehave actively, they are simply troubled and in need if help, which rhe school offers but does a poor job at. The head of council in the school has ignored many students including myself and others I know, either not giving them any feedback on the therapy they requested or getting back to them as late as a whole term later. I had a technology class some years back where the teacher had grown very comfortable with a female student, one day asking her to skip an entire class to go to his classroom alone with him to look at "artwork". This was towards the end of the day and when I had asked my fellow pupils about it they all agreed they were uncomfortable and felt as if it might continue Into something sinister.
This same teacher has caught many smokers/vapers in the school and has completely ignored the rules of taking their device and reporting them, either letting them go with their device or taking their device and not reporting them whatsoever.
School is bad and the teachers cause a toxic environment some teachers like the physical education teachers seem to not even have qualified and can’t even teach anyone a thing worth learning very bad school
No School is completely perfect but YHS comes as close as you can get.the teachers are great at what they do and the principle is amazing. The school its self is very well kept by the amazing staff. They are very good at handling bullying and there is a lunch pack service for those who are struggling and the food is great. It may sound to good to be true but York High School really is an amazing school.
