This school doesnt care about their students unless they're a first team athlete or their parents funnel money into the school. They claim to have a zero tolerance for bullying and drugs, but turn a blind eye whenever problems are brought up. The school has cameras situated just about everywhere on the school property, but claim that they can't do anything when a problem is reported. Someone I know had to have surgery due to bullying and when they complained to the school heads, they said because the incident occured during class change, there was nothing they could do. Most of the teachers don't care about their students - they don't even put in the effort to teach - and complain when their learners do poorly in tests, etc. The music program is great but is ignored entirely, because sports is the main focus. Some of the teachers working there (current and past) acted questionably towards particularly female learners. They pay more attention to boys hairstyles and uniform pants, and girls nails than they do about any real problems.
Teachers aren't helpful, nor grade heads or school management. When addressing issues you're seen as the enemy and your issue does not get resolved. The code of conduct is poor in terms of having rules that really dont make sense in these modern days e.g. hair, dress code etc. Drugs is a huge problem that does not get enough attention at this school
My school's name is Victoria Park High School. I can happily say so far I've had the best experience at VPHS. I've witnessed wonderful educators passionately do their jobs to make sure their learners excel in their academics and in the sports fields as we well. It's an education institution that offers great learning areas and facilities. Although it may come with it's negative aspects such as unruly students that fail to abide to the schools rules and regulations. It has introduced methods to reduce such cases of students that fail to abide by the schools laws. Overall I can say I am proud to be a Victorian. Hence the schools motto is "prepared for life" I can witness my preparation.
The school doesn't do anything about the drugs in the school. They are mostly hair orientated with highly strict rules for hair. Gender equality in this school is poor. Good academics but could improve their educators as some of them do not have a passion for teaching.
My experience at this school was great at first but after being there a while I realised what the school was actually all about. The school claims to be very involved with academies and keeping children safe at the school but all they actually worry about is hair regulations. I would have so much on my plate so much stress about school work and projects and yet the school would put me in detention for having my hair to short on the sides. I dont know if they realise that we as learners get bullied for having certain hairstyles, we get judged which leads to us killing ourselves, so if your pupils commit suicide just know it was your fault. Girls are allowed to have European hairstyles at school but boys not, they can have short or long hair but boys not. We also want to be ourselves and look nice for school and for the public but you dont allow that. The drugs in this school is bad. If you report the children all the school does is give them detention, no suspension nothing. We were informed in 2018 that the police will do searches during the year but not one search was done. The school does not report the drug situation to the police station, the keep it secret so that they dont ruin the schools reputation. They claim to have the best staff ever but yet I asked a staff member for help and I was told by the staff member that I'm wasting their time, not to mention the time a teacher used vulgur language towards our class (the f word ).
The school has a designated smoking area right next to the junior boys bathroom, at times you can hardly breath inside their because of the smoke. I actually hate going to this school and I wish I never choose to go there.
