I moved to this school.in the beginning of the year and I haven't had one problem. The teachers are so nice and sweet. And I like thr principle he is very funny. It's a great school for if you are really interested in art choices
The school was great until our Principal left for Sasolburg High School and the deputy principal was left in charge and later got promoted to the Principal position. The matric pass rate went from the 90's to being in the 70's. That was a first for our school. Three teachers quit and Two retired. Recently they introduced a scan in system, basically each of us has a barcoded tag with our names and important credentials and all we do is scan in when we enter and leave the school, instead of having the teacher do the register. It's a good system, yes and it's faster, if the tag was forgotten at home we stayed outside the school yard and was regarded as absent, this happened to me during the winter, and they didn't care, I had no means of asking anyone from home because it was only my father (who was not well) and little brother. The lady from the office came out and said "I just phoned your father to see if he can't bring your tag but he says he's very sick, so I don't know, are you going to catch a taxi back home or are you just going to sit outside the yard? The choice is yours" she said. Mind you the code that was on the tag can easily be typed in, they didn't have to scan the tag, the could easily type it in. I begged and begged and begged. I told them that I knew my code off by heart so can they please just type it so I can go in because I had a test that day, they still refused and I had to pay R50 to be able to go in. Oh I forgot to mention the drugs, VPA is a drug school, the way drugs are easily accessible is insane, if your child is easily influenced then rest assured they will fall in.
It was alright, pretty average high school. Definitely don't miss it. Academics could've been on higher level, too many students for not enough teachers. It seemed like we never were able to finish the work on time. In addition, the principal at the time definitely didn't know (or didn't want to know) how to handle international students and taking of First Additional Language.
