UP has excellent facilities and the institution provides world class academics even during this difficult period of Covid-19! UP lecturers and staff care about the imminent future of their students and they are committed to the success of all of us at UP!
I'm really annoyed with the university. My mom lost her Job due to Covid and the bank would not approve my student loan for my third year on university. So since my fees are out standing for 2020 only they have block my whole academic record from first year until now . I'm trying to apply for a bursary but I can't due to my whole academic record being withheld? How am I suppose get a bursary and I paid all my other years in full.
The University of Pretoria strives for excellence in everything. They have a strong academic record. The lecturers are all highly quilified, there are tutorial sessions for the more challenging modules, a 24hour library and study centre and numerous computer rooms (It labs) to accommodate all students. They have a wide variety of courses which can be found of their website, which is easy to navigate. UP also has many culture and sporting activities to suit different tastes. One can participate in any sport regardless of how good you are at it. The UP staff is very professional and the student advisors are very helpful. UP also has a clinic on each campus as well as mental health services - these are accessible to All the students for free. Overall, a great university. Be prepared to work hard, but know that there is always someone in your corner.
I'm a first year student at the university of Pretoria. My experience has been nothing but amazing although it has been cut short by this lock down period. From the first day i set foot in the grounds of UP i felt like i was home away from home ,which is absolutely amazing as a student who comes from another province and is new to the different culture. UP has not only been welcoming it has also been super supportive as i am a first year and very new to the way of life as a tertiary student.UP takes their academics very seriously and although there is a huge amount of work given in a small amount of time i am able to manage because of the support of my student advisors and good friendships i have formed.
There is a slogan called Fly@UP and they try by all means to really make us fly , by this i mean the Lecturers are always willing to lend a helping hand if we need it and also our amazing tutors. The SRC is very understanding and trys by all means to meet every students needs regardless of their background. Our Vice chancellor not only gave us FREE access to our online study material but has also made means for every student to get learning devices (laptops) as we all know that some of us are underprivileged. I really believe that all of this will make the whole online learning a smooth process and all the student will really FLY@UP .
Student life is by far the most amazing thing i have encountered, from Varsity cup rugby games to night life in the surrounding clubs and what makes it better is that it is a safe environment. The events they organise in different faculties are also fruitful and some even give us opportunities to get exposed to the workplace and other companies we might be interested in working with.
One thing that i find very hard doing is going to write those tests very late around 17h30 where we finish late, alot of my friends and peers also think that its inconvenient, what can we say though its Uni after all (haha) but regardless of that UP is the right Way👍
I rate the university of Pretoria the best university in South africa and you will never regret enrolling in it!!💯
I am an exchange student, UP is my first choice because of its prestigious reputation and notoriety in the continent. The campus is very clean and relaxing,it's not messy. We can socialize with everyone and meet new people from foreign countries. Everything is good but I can't bear with the test after 5pm.
Pour mes ami(e)s francophones, si vous voulez continuer vos études en Afrique du Sud, je vous conseil l'Université de Pretoria. Le système est très diffèrents du système francophone habituelle, vous vivrez une experience exclusives à l'UP.
UP’s slogan has recently been updated to “Fly at UP”. I remember the endless memes about it during Exam season. But the truth of the matter is, UP is tough but fair. It really challenged and grew me as a person. I realize it now that I am in the professional space. UP is a very academically driven University which is great. However, if you are seeking a balance between practical learning and academics you are better off somewhere else. It’s not all bad, life is a learning experience so why try and rush it all at once. But overall I am proud to be an Alumni at UP and I am grateful everyday in my profession for the knowledge and excellence the University has provided me.
UP has changed my life! I have never been happier. The people I have met and the work I do makes me appreciate life on a new level. Not only does the campus have beautiful facilities but my TuksRes is a sisterhood I will never forget. I would not change a thing if I could! Cannot imagine a better environment to study further!
This institution is incredible! It allows students to grow in many spheres of their lives and makes you proud to have been a part of their legacy. They have many different paths to follow as well as many sporting and cultural activities too. They really take pride in providing the best possible experience for students, staff and all other people involved. They make learning as week as safety a priority. I honestly could not see myself studying anywhere else. Really proud to say I go to UP (TUKS)
University of Pretoria also known as Tuks is one of the best universities in South Africa as it helps students create a study alternative supported by their wants, it empowers students to graduate in record time. The lectures are very much professional and are experts in the field and always deliver content that is of high quality. It also provides a very supportive student community that helps students to cope with everyday life and tackle obstacles that they may stumble across. The learning curriculum is excellent and is anything someone would want from a university. The campus is also a great for everyday socialization as it also caters for human diversity in terms of race. Not only is it an academic based institution, it also caters for non curricular activities like sports and clubs. The best part of the university is that it also makes room for international students from different countries and they are also fit into the UP society as their second home becomes the residences provided by the university
My opinion is, although UP has all the greatest facilities, newest technologies, and by far the best security... They do lack compassion for their students. I, as a student registered with the disibility unit, can quote a lecturer saying “everything you do is linked to a choice, there will be no sick tests since getting sick is a choice!” And I feel that is a low blow to the current situation of the whole world (Covid-19).
They were also late to implement a plan of action on Covid-19 since they only had a meeding after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech
I feel that if students are treated with compassion and respect, they will bloom. Love needs to be spread among the university, otherwise it is a great university to attend with a lot of opportunities
The University of Pretoria (commonly known as 'Tuks') is, by far, the best university I could have attended. Just as with any other university, the workload is intense and it sometimes gets overwhelming; however, measures are put in place for students who feel that their mental health is taking a knock. I believe that the facilities are some of the best in the country as they are regularly upgraded. The lecturers offer academic support to anyone who makes the effort to ask for assistance.
In as much as we are students, we are also taught to be assets to society by learning how to push through inconvenient situations.
The University of Pretoria is, hands-down, the best university in the country (whether or not the statics agree).
The University of Pretoria is a wonderful tertiary institution. It provides thousands of opinions for studies, and allows their students to grow into the independent work force that our country needs. They have amazing lecturers and assistants for all you’d ever need. The campus is beautiful and the education is worth it.
