From personal experience, the School looks really good from the outside, and anyone would love to work there, but if you look closely, Senior management is predomintely of a different race. The ratio of teachers based on race is clear that the powers that be try their best to employ as few people of color as possible to maintain the status quo, regardless of how qualified or experienced that person of color is. So in your CV, please indicate your race, so that they do not waste your time and money going for their "interviews" because you will not get the job. They may call you, and call your references just for the kick of it, but if you are non white, its very likely you will get overlooked for the job. Do not take it personally. Also look at the ratio of learners at the school. Makes you ponder why they don't employ more teachers of color when there are more non white learners enrolled there.
Teachers bully children and treat them badly because of their personal vendettas. Children who assault other children are only given demerits and detention, no suspension. Children who are caught with drugs at school only get demerits and detention. If your child needs the bathroom during a lesson, they are made to sit on the cold floor when returning. The school allows racism if it's an African child being racist towards a white child.
Rph is a brilliant school nurturing young minds academically, culturally and on the sporting area a. The 2022 matric results bears testiment to the dedication of its teachers. I have been associated with the school for 9 years and both my children have excelled. The homework is extensive but great prep in assisting one to reach targets as well as prep for tertiary studies.
The school provides excellent results due to the dedication of the Educators. If a child is willing to excel they go beyond the call of duty to provide assistance. There balance of academics sport and cultural activities nstill well developed young adults. There is something for every child.
The racism is too much now, black children are always getting attacked, and when a parent comes to confront them about it they act like its nothing and they did nothing wrong. The people outside cant see how bad the racism is because no one is making it public. This schools education is also horrible, they are a few good teachers dont get me wrong but some of them dont know what the hell they are doing. they have favouritism and love white people only and they teachers dont seem to attack the white kids as much as they do the black kids. its horrible and i would not suggest this school if you want your child to be learing bad morals
Honestly I don't like this school at all. Cared more about looks. Gave out harsh punishments for little things. Teachers can't teach. As a grade 12, it's flipping hard as they are constantly comparing us to last year's grade 12's and how they got distinctions in their subject on their reports. They pick on us and they mainly pick on the black kids, rarely the white students. In some classes they lay you out according to you last year's marks, dumb ones in front, smart ones at back. This humiliates some students. Art teachers are shit, honestly 2 of them need to retire already. Some teachers let kids do whatever they please and this inhibits others learning. Honestly just a bad school
The school seems good on paper and to prospective students however there are issues with favouritism, racism and complete neglect for the students' wellbeing.
Kids with mental health issues express their need for support and for the most part they're ignored. Plus the toilets don't flush because they use the water for a small green patch. They really only care about aesthetics. However some of the teachers are really encouraging and passionate which is a shame because the other educators ruin an experience that could have been great. The whole 'model student' narrative is really annoying. Generally you are only valued for what you bring to the school in terms of marks, achievements etc. The only kids who reach this point and get rewarded are the white kids so... The rest of us work and get nothing.
The school completely forgot about the students during Covid. They only cared about getting the syllabus done and didn't care about how they did it. The found loopholes galore and didn't let the children stand up for what they believed in. Due to this the children rebelled and many fights were caused. The teachers are a joke as they don't have the passion to teach and are simply there to earn a salary. The system is built so that only a certain group can benefit and overlook racist incidents. There is no diversity whatsoever despite what the school says. The school couldn't care less about the students and do everything according to procedure. As long as they don't get sued I guess its fine because the school will always sell the lie or at least the marketing lady does that. No wonder her son became headboy. Oh and if you weren't in first team hockey and netball you weren't cool enough. Everything got pushed aside to accommodate the two sports and I wonder how they still get away with it to this day. Apart from the favoritism Rand Park High school definitely does not live up to integrity and commitment. They are an absolute joke.
Having just finished matric at Randpark I can honestly say that some of my best memories have come from school. Whether it was playing sports or laughing at break with my friends, the memories are endless. The school and teachers go through a tremendous effort to get you through matric with the best results possible. Many students may see this as them giving to much homework but once you have finished matric you realise how much effort they put in so that you can get your best results. Randpark is not a private school and therefore do not have the funds to make everything perfect, they have to make do with what they have, and they still manage to do an little extra through the food scheme. When it comes to fights and people smoking at the school, people don’t realise this happens at every school no matter where you go. The school’s facilities are not world class but compared to many schools I have visited through sports matches, we have top facilities. The are some teachers who are difficult and rude, but that is life, not everyone person is going to be kind and you have to learn to toughen up. Randpark gives you many opportunities that open a future for you. The diversity of the school is one of its best assets.
Excellent school which has supported and encouraged my children academically and on the sports field. My son matriculated with multiple distinctions and was accepted into his preferred degree course at varsity. My other son is still at the school and very happy.
I've been in the school for a while now and I can see how it is going down the drain, especially with the current lower grades and the teachers. Us seniors get into so much trouble for absuletly everything and the kiddies walk away scott free, this needs to change and those lower grades have no respect for anybody. The teachers give us way too much work to do in such short periods of time, granted that school was never suppised to be easy but I think this is just overkill right now. We write exams and cycle tests every term, most highschools only write exams in term 2 and 4 but we write both every single term. And I dont see how my hair and earrings are bothering anybody else.
As a parent with 2 children in this school, one in the top 3 academically, and with prior personal experience of RPH many
years before that- I can honestly say the standards have dropped to disgusting lows these past few years. Sure blame Covid, but both my children are unhappy with the education level. Either a certain teacher spends most of the lesson chatting to the teacher next door, or they simply dish out a ton of homework and basically expect the kids to teach themselves. There is not a week that goes by that there is not one or another incident with fighting, or misbehavior on the fields. For the money I pay for 2 kids, I expect the best education instead, I have one child who hates going to school and the other whom I have to basically teach myself. They may as well do Online learning at a quarter of the price.
Honestly this school could go 1 of 2 ways, for my experience it is a horrible school, the teachers are racist and threaten you if you dont do things their ways. There is also alot of rude kids in this school that need to be put in their place. Teachers here find happiness in seeing you at your lowest so they put you down. The majority of them don't care about you, especially the older teachers that have supposedly 'seen everything till you came into the school'. Honestly so glad I'm not in this school no more
I think Rand park sees a futer in you and pushes you academically and physically. There may be issues but there is an good forse of punishment for horrible actions and decent and appropriate punishment for bad behavior. The children are also very respectful. I believe rand park is a great school and it makes us all happy. Thats why out motto is integraty and respect 🧚🏿♀️
It is a really nice school.. There may be alot of homework but i believe the teachers when they say it will help us in our exams amd personally when i didnt do my homework i wouldn't understand but when i did it homework would make sense. Thst is wht it is a very good school and children are respectful through the motto "respect and integrity"
The school is awful. They come off as a good school to parents that cares about academics and the learner's well being but they really don't. Some of the teachers are nice but some of them can come off as racist. They expect every child to play sport but they give us so much homework and they expect us not to fall into a state of depression. Even with sports, you can play really well and can be able to play in 1st team but in the end, they always pick students that are either white or wealthy. I'm not poor, but JM not rich either. I was not given a chance to play in first team. Very racist school. I can't wait to leave.
I am a former student in randpark high.they offer an extremely poor education with most of the teachers doing absolutely nothing to educate or breaking students down rather than building them up.I had to personally help one of my friends learn because a teacher insulted him saying that the only career he would achieve in is a waiter because he simply asked her a question regarding work he did not understand as well as i was a 70s to 80s student and my average dropped by more than 30% in every subject even though i studied harder and worked more than ever before.the teachers are certainly not fully qualified and dont have a passion for education. I was also a 1st team sportsman for the school for 2 years however the school completely removed me from the team because i spent 2 weeks in a mental rehab due to depression, they did nothing to support or help but rather ignored that their was an issue. The school nor the teachers actually care about their students ,the main focus is money.
Rand Park high is an excellent school with regards to academics , they really do try their best to help students achieve to their greatest ability .However they are very oldschool therefore unufirm and appearance is taken very seriously . I do not agree with this because childeren of different cultures and ethnicities dress differently , i have no problem with a school uniform but the fact that childeren of colour are not allowed to have certain hairstyles upsets me. In conclusion Rand Park is a good school but some teachers at the school can come out as racists
The school is great, perfect for getting ready for future life but the teachers are disrespectful to the students and some come off as racist. The sports are amazing and we have top in every sport we play but the homework makes it hard for students to cope. The school wants you to play sports and get involved but them give the students 10hrs of homework and expect them to not to get stressed and have anxiety and eventually land in depression
The education is at a great standard and sets the students up for a great future in any career they choose. The teachers are some of the most amazing people you can find, they care about their students and will often go out of their way to ensure a student has the best support whether it be school related or not. A great school for students who want to learn how to be independent and responsible while still having the teachers there to guide them.
It’s not that great, the school will act as if it’s one of the best schools but actually the teachers disrespect learners unless you not wealthy you won’t go far to achieve awards or success in the school weather it is sport or academic the school has a bias to learners. You do not have a say if a teacher disrespects you there’s no point reporting this to a higher level educator as they will just pick their staffs side I don’t recommend it would be a good school if you don’t have a descent amount of money If you want to achieve something in that school it is a very corrupted school
