Harassment in the street
I was harassed by a girl from this school. My umbrella was brocken and was grabbed by another. I am sure this is not the standard the school would like to set, however this is what is happening
An honest opinion pt1
Hi.
Im currently in PHSG and can i say its a heck of a lot of things. PHSG is my school and im ngl im proud to be a girls high girl.
When it comes to acedemics youll either fail or pass. Its your choice if u want to learn or not. There is a price tho and that's ur mental health im ngl to u.
Teachers are human. They all have their days and some may be really strict because of past trauma, mara doesnt mean u should be treated unjust. If God gave you a voice use it.
Sports is really complicated. Like for example netball, netball is hella hard because if you dont have nice people on ur team ull feel so bad abt urself that u start failing at it. It's not difficult to get a sports badge. commitment is the key.
Subjects. Grade 8s have abt 12 and Grade 9s have abt 14. Its hard and its not gonna be easy so get ready for the pressure.
From experience, you will get hurt and will be brought down. Not everyone is gonna like u but at the end of the day u choose ur own happiness right?

It's so draining
Honestly I tried being a student here. The beginning was awful absolutely. There is also a lack of empathy from staff members. Yes the academics are good but most learners here self study to get their good marks because teachers are not there almost half of the time. Sports are a must and are forced on you. It's a school that cares mostly about their reputation. If you are a strong willed person try it out but you might not last.
Dont come. Its a trap
Please take note the acrynom PHSG means Pretoria high school for girls. PHSG is a trap.If you want to suffer. If you want to be depressed. If you wanna complain everyday. Then go to PHSG. PHSG uses propaganda wisely and it makes you think that the school is good but actually its not. When you come to the school you will think the school is alright but as time goes on you will realise the hell that is in there. PHSG also like hiding a lot of bad stuff that happened in the school to protect their reputation. PHSG doesnt accept change and their minds are still in the past. PHSG has good teachers and is good with academics but it comes with a consequence which is your mental health. The learning there is great but your mental health is affected there. You will not enjoy it. Come at your own risk but im telling you dont you dare come, it is not good for you. And i get they have good teachers but like whats the point of having good academics if you gonna suffer at the same time. Protect yourself. yall be safe.

It's a really good school and it will get tough because it's high school life and it's not supposed to be easy but overall its a fun school with many challenges and work but it's what makes us stronger

I'm not gonna lie it's hell in there it's horror and you have to be a certain type of person to survive.

Disappointing. Poor mannered girls, contradictory staff. Poor attitude of students towards the school, fallen standards and reputation
Experience at PHSG
If you aren’t popular you won’t survive there. They genuinely don’t care about your mental health and will do everything they possibly can to shove it under the rug
Would not recommend
I hate Girl's High. They had absolutely no consideration after lockdown and the extra lessons they offered were the exact same as the class lessons there was no catch up classes. And the teachers could learn to be a bit more empathetic, there's no room to develop into yourself and figure out who you are because they're too focused on acting 'proper' and 'ladylike'.
I would not recommend
I was a former student at Pretoria High school for girls and after 2 years I was burnt out, suffering from anxiety and in a depression like no other, it's not the same for everyone but for myself and majority other girls I know share the same feeling, the teachers at this school have almost no empathy, if you fail you fail, no one truly cares or wants to help you or support you, the work load is absolutely ridiculous and the amount of stress put on students blows my mind, with that comes the rude students. Race and political opinions over run the school and if your not rich or popular you simply won't fit in. The school has this pretty image on the outside and I fell for it, but let me tell you I am so happy I have left.
No words horrible school
Horrible. No effort made with lockdown and if you fail you fail no one there to help and sports are forced. Bullying is super bad and they brush it off.really wouldn’t recommend
Pretoria Girls High
It is a really good school, but its not in any sense easy or fun. You will stress and cry and contemplate dropping out, but if you do make it through, you'll leave a strong, confident women. You will also face bullshit here like no other school.
It’s what you make of it.
Some people have mixed experiences. It’s really what you make of it. I’ve had an amazing time at the school for these past 5 years and I’ve met the most amazing people. There are bad times and there are silly rules but you just need to keep your head up and keep your voice heard and you’ll have an amazing time.
beware of the hostel
the school and sport is good overall but if you go into hostel good luck because the people there are really two-faced

Pretoria Highschool for Girls is a place where I’ve made some of my closest friends. You feel so confident when you are in this school because of all the confident girls around you. The teachers push the students to work to their fullest and the school offers a great range of hobbies and activities for the students.
