The school had a fantastic reputation under the old principal. The new management in my opinion is poor. Most teachers are incompetent and incapable of dealing with teenagers. Far too young to have any experience.
A maths teacher saying: "I don't feel like writing the sum on the board", "If you don't understand, I don't have to explain, just practice it".
Deputy principal insisting of kids wearing blazers at assembly at 35°C - some learners had fainted.
Often times the students fall asleep or don't pay attention in class because the teachers just read the work off the notes on the board and don't engage well with the children. Some teachers purposefully target a child for being part of another race or nationality, which mentally affects the learner negatively. A learner with a broken arm was not given an extension to hand in projects and was still forced to write in class. The parents had to complete the projects instead.
I joined PV in Grade 9 and honestly not the most welcoming school, no tour for the new kids that have no idea where anything is. It's a very cold school in terms of personality. The teachers/headmaster only cares about the name of the school and not the students self, well at least that was how it felt. Very conservative school. The only thing that was good, was the fact that the attention among academics, culture and sport were equally devided. There's absolutely no tradition or "gees" and i think that's because there's a lack of pride in the school.
I like the school, the cultural side of it anyway. The teachers can be very grumpy and the new school rules are super strict. Some questionable values there. Little recognition goes to the cultural programs but I guess you can’t have everything.
Its actually nicer at pv than it seems. Yeah, yeah theres no tradition but theres more to a school than its tradition. The student are really chilled tbh. Its really fun to see what everyones up to in break times and its really nice overall. The teachers are mostly chilled. Theres a few teachers (like one or two) who isnt as nice but they teach well tho. So yeah pv is great
I haven’t been in the school dor long and it wasn’t a bad experience overall but it wasn’t a good one either. My former school was much better for the same school fees
Pv has a lot of teachers that don't give one f about the children which does annoy me the teachers are also very grumpy and mean not all of them. Most stupid thing pv has done is taken away the cell phone rule I heard that put a lot of people off of pv but also they are very good with acedemics and sport and it's a good enviroment but it's high school and we are teenagers so if they make more stupid rules then I will leave and a lot will too but I really do love the school and the stuff they do for us
The open day looks good at first, but Don't let it get to you. The school doesn't have ANY tradition. School rules are pathetic. The headmaster tries to create a unity, but divides the school even further. Teachers may differ from pathetic to kind of good. A lot of the teachers have favourites and will only give their attention to them. The tuckshop is super expensive so dont ever try and buy there. The sport is just sad, too much attention is given to the rugby that isn't going anywhere while there are other sports that actually do well.
