Hands off school

This school does nothing to combat the underlying problems of bullying, children vaping in class, children being standoffish against teachers. They only care about their sport and “tradition” even though they say they do care about everything. The school does not care about you if you don’t do sport or are good at academics. I’ve seen countless of bullied students, and ultimately the teachers could not give less of their attention to that area.

Very toxic environment.

Verbally abusive teachers.
They, Give students projects, then they tell them it is for marks and after hours of doing my project they don't even bother to take it in.
They also lost my project and then blamed it on me, so I had to do the whole thing again.
Got punched in my face and was being bullied and the school did absolutely nothing about it, didn't even bother to talj to the bullies.

Yes to Outeniqua High School

As a student of Outeniqua High School, I know how much work and effort goes into this school to make it a fun place for everyone. You could never let everyone have their way therefore it is a lot of extra work because of the different people in one place and different cultures must be accompanied.
No school is perfect and neither is anyone but this school tries it’s best to be what everyone needs.

Necessary improvement.

There are some amazing teachers at this school. I've met amazing people and I'm thankful for having had the opportunity to meet new people and really get out of my comfort zone. But, like always, when something is too good to be true, it usually is. One of my teachers I looked up to told me that I had no future and that I had to forget about my dreams. Tests are, undoubtedly, more difficult than it's supposed to be. With the maths aggregate once being 40% for an entire grade. You get called out for wearing a colored hair tie, favoritism is evident, they'll tell you to take off your scarf in freezing weather just because it doesn't have the school's logo on it. I can't speak on behalf of everyone, but this isn't "The school for every child" like they claim it to be. They say it's not the place but the people that make up the place. Well, this school could really use some better people and a new, modern set of rules that wasn't put in place in the 1900's. I can't begin with how much this school has damaged my mental health. And it's not only me. A girl I'm friends with was bullied every single day of her life and when her parents complained, the principal told her to get over it because she's not special. This isn't an attempt to trash talk a school that is, undoubtedly, one of the best in the country - but to spread awareness about what happens behind the scenes.

Hoërskool Outeniqua

I am a grade 10 learner at Hoërskool Outeniqua. I've decided to follow my parents' footsteps by attending this school. We are a big school and we are approximately 1800 children - wich means I meet new faces every day! I love sport and lucky for me Hoërskool Outeniqua gives their learners a good balance between school work and sport and culture. We have a variety of sport to choose from aswell as a lot of kulture activities to join. Hoërskool Outeniqua is one of the only schools in SA that has 24 subjects to choose from - that's a lot! My school is a school for every learner. There are so many opportunities for learners so that they can use their potential to grow and they get exposure to the employment world after school. Like for example we have a club for almost everything you can think of. I love my school - there is nothing better than to walk through the hall ways in the mornings with teachers greating you friendly. Most school will make children feel like they are "held captive", well Outeniqua put in a lot of work to plant trees and flowers to create a beautiful atmosphere where our children can feel safe.
