This reviewer was torn between poor and average but is giving the benefit of the doubt and gave an average rating . The reviewer feels the school has gone backwards in overall development, while the academic status of the school seems safe and secure the sports, culture and spirit of the school is at a low; little to non-existent ( there is massive room for improvement) . The reviewer finds great pride in the school and sees a lot of potential in the school with the learners who are willing and eager to see "change" for the wholesome betterment of the school however unless the powers that be have a change of heart/direction of leadership future scholars should know that this institution is a academic-focused school, do not expect a well-oiled machine; a school going strong in every sector expected of a school. Side note, communication is lackluster. ( disclaimer: it is just a personal opinion of someone who has experienced the school in a certain capacity)
Meridian Pinehurst is lackluster. I cannot speak for the primary and nursery however I've been enrolled at the high school for 4 years and counting and have had the WORST experience imaginable. The administration is horrendous and they can't seem to do anything right. They don't handle bullying and other SERIOUS INCIDENTS properly and instead "sweep it under the rug". Students have had horrible experiences happen and the teachers, staff and administration didn't help in any form at all. The school is also not "open" and by that I mean they aren't allowing the kids to be different, like LGBTQIA+ children are discriminated and aren't represented at all. Religion is also a challenge here as I have had friends have disagreements with administration with religion and beliefs etc. They follow Christianity and force it upon the students.
The teachers are HORRIBLE and that is not an exaggeration. Yes there are a few teachers who are good at their job, however they are few and far between and will leave as soon as they can. Majority of teachers are not qualified to teach the subject they're teaching or just to teach in general. The teachers are ALWAYS changing (current teachers are leaving and new ones come in), your child will have a new teacher almost every year (not register teachers...subject teachers etc.) My friend (not mentioning names) has had 7 mathematics teachers during their high school career here. Yes that's right 7 MATHEMATICS TEACHERS, how on earth do you expect a student to be able to understand and learn MATHEMATICS (which is hard on it's own) if they're being put through such a horrible educational experience. The school lacks culture and authenticity and don't even get me started on extra curriculums...
The school is not good in any way, shape or form. I personally would highly recommend staying away from this school if you're considering sending your child (to the high school mostly). Please do not let any other reviews on here or anywhere else misguide you, they seem to be about the primary and or nursery and seem very...how can I say? Fake.
Our experience of Meridian Pinehurst has always been exceptional.
We are over 7 years with the school. We have found teachers and staff approachable, go above and beyond what is expected, no child is left behind.
The foundation of what the school stands for, Pillars, ethos, education and communication is top notch.
Highly recommend this school as you can send your child from nursery age until Matric. You really get to know everyone and friends become family, which is wonderful.
No Child is Left Behind... As the school song portrays. This is truly what the school stands for. Teachers that go above and beyond the call of duty for every student. Administrative staff that make you feel welcome and a friendly Hello from the ground staff every morning. The kind of environment you can truly call a school family with the added benefit you can invest in this family from 3 months till Grade 12. The warm and loving environment is felt from the moment you drive in the gate with Uncle Flippie giving you his great smile and a friendly wave.
One of the best Curro group schools in the Northern Suburbs. Amazing staff and teachers who are dedicated and go beyond what's expected. Quality education with plenty of resources for the kids to use.
Safe & secure campus with beautifully maintained grounds. One of the advantages is they enrol kids from 3 months to 5 years in the nursery side and then Grade R to Matric all on one campus - My kids never need to change schools or uniform.
They have aftercare and holiday care with cooked meals, extra murals and sports after school.
Almost 8 years for us at Meridian and it's a big happy family!
It is messy the teachers are rude and it is not worth your money
And they take your money for everything cause they can't afford it,I can't wait to go to fairmont
