Lack of Accountability and Action

The school is akin to a grave, beautiful on the outside.... The school requested, a while back, that I provide more clarity regarding my review. In short, my child was bullied when in grade 3 by two grade 6 pupils and it got to the point where I had to involve the Dept of Education on two occasions as the management failed to intervene. The school's management then called me in for a meeting to tell me that Tygerpoort wasn't the school for us and the solution to the bullying was for us to leave. The school formally applied to have us moved to a special needs school. The Dept of Education ruled in our favour to reject the application and insisted the school make changes to accommodate special needs and limit the bullying, but we in any case decided to leave after a year as the poor attitude of the management and bullying remained unchanged.

Great school for entitled bullies!

I'll keep this as short as possible...

My sister's son was bullied and removed from Tygerpoort. The bully was the son of a prominent doctor who financially "contributed " considerably to the school. The principal downplayed it and never addressed or sanctioned the bully who inturn understood that he can get away with his actions. He continued to be a problem with free reigns and was rewarded with a leadership role later.

Forward a few years later, my sister's daughter also got bullied and ultimately were taken out and sent to Curro due to no action being taken, yet again, by the principal.

My stepson was also bullied in this school and we removed him as well. The principal has done nothing about it and was extremely uncomfortable to address the problem child. The Dept of Education also got involved and ruled against the school. That too was just a little too late as the damage was done. It seems like the school is more interested in protecting their image as well and it's pocket.

In short, if you are an entitled parent with entitled children and confuse narcissistic behavior with a strong character and leadership skills, this is the school for you.

If, however, you value real Christian values, empathy and true leadership skills without a smoke screen, you might want to consider somewhere else...

Do take note of all the bully complaints and reviews, especially over a period of a few years. It's also interesting to note how school staff magically posts good reviews after a few complaints. It unfortunately forms a pattern that no reasonable thinking individual can deny. It seems that pleasing those parents with money overrides a zero bully tolerance ...

That unfortunately is by choice and not by fluke.

**Review of Laerskool Tygerpoort**

**Review of Laerskool Tygerpoort**

I feel compelled to share my experience as a parent at Laerskool Tygerpoort, especially regarding the serious issues surrounding bullying and the school's response. Initially, we chose this school because of its promising reputation and values. However, our experience has been marred by troubling events that are worth noting for prospective parents.

From the start, I noticed changes in my son's behavior related to his time at school. After discussing his experiences with him, it became increasingly evident that he was being bullied by other students. I approached the school on multiple occasions, expressing my concerns and seeking assistance. Unfortunately, rather than addressing the issue, I felt that my concerns were minimized and, in some instances, seemingly ignored.

Frustrated and worried for my son's well-being, I ultimately made the decision to withdraw him from Laerskool Tygerpoort. This was a difficult choice, but I believed it was in his best interest. What transpired next was shocking. The school accused me of child abuse, which I found not only unfounded but deeply distressing. The welfare authorities were called in, and their investigation found no grounds for such allegations. However, they did confirm that my son had been bullied at school.

This experience has left me feeling incredibly disillusioned with Laerskool Tygerpoort. Instead of creating a safe environment for students, it seems there is a culture of covering up issues rather than confronting them head-on. The lack of accountability and support for students dealing with bullying is alarming and unacceptable.

If you are considering Laerskool Tygerpoort for your child, I strongly encourage you to thoroughly investigate their stance on bullying and how they handle parental concerns. It's crucial for children to feel safe and supported in their educational environment, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this school to others.

I hope that sharing my story will encourage the school to reflect on their practices and, ultimately, work towards a safer and more welcoming environment for all students.
