Disappointing Experience and Poor Communication at Kids 24 Doornpoort
We enrolled our 2-year-old child at Kids 24 Doornpoort in August 2024 and have been extremely disappointed and concerned about our experience.
From the start, the communication has been nearly nonexistent. We received no updates on our child's progress, strengths, or areas needing improvement. Despite numerous inquiries, we were always told we would get feedback, but it never happened. Meeting the teacher was an ordeal, and the lack of interaction left us feeling completely in the dark about our child's development. Every day during drop-offs, we would ask to meet the teacher, and six months later, I still don't know who my child's teacher was. There was also no WhatsApp communication or access to the class teacher. We suggested a communication book, only to find out later that they had been using one but didn't give it to us when our child started. We only received it in November.
On my child’s first day, we were informed at the gate that parents are not allowed to enter the premises. When we requested photos of our child's first day, we were told that it wasn't possible due to the POPI Act, which seemed unreasonable as it was just photos of our own child. During their last day of school, which included a Christmas party, we again requested photos and was told that we would receive them over the December holidays, but they never did.
We were told they cannot provide updates on our child's progress and we should wait until December to receive a progress report. When we expressed our concerns, we were dismissively told by the general manager that Kids 24 Doornpoort is not a “nanny or day mother service”. This response was highly inappropriate and disrespectful adding to our frustration and disappointment with the school.
The lack of proactive and transparent communication is extremely poor, and the General manager & school principal dismissive responses to our genuine concerns have made us feel utterly insulted. This experience has led us to believe that this is a terrible school, and we strongly advise other parents to avoid enrolling their children here. We sincerely hope the facility will improve its communication, be transparent and respect towards parents to ensure a better experience for others.
