I'm a student at Roodies. The teachers and principal are great, they really try to keep the school in order. But the problem is the new wave of students. Because of the govt choosing kids after COVID , they have been accepting these bad kids that ruin the schools name. Kids who bunk , don't study, smoke and lower the schools class a averages. They should go back to accepting hard working students with good reports in primary. The govt ruined that school!!!!
There is very little bad to say about the school...the schools class of 22 had the highest pass rate , putting them 1st in Gauteng and 3rd in South Africa.
Don't come with racist stories about the school , because it's all lies. The teachers and the principal are more concerned about your child's education than politics...
Keep it that way and allow the school to remain doing an excellent job...
They don't phone parents when a child is bunking school and issue suspensions without warning. Children complain that there's smoking going on in the toilets. On top of that, learners don't get enough attention during extra classes. It's a chaotic situation that is poor for schooling.
This school may have a thing or two going for them academics wise and sports wise but other than that the way they handle their students is very poor, they are still a few racist teachers as well as uncultured staff as they are constantly fighting with students of a different ethnicity and religion due to them being different there was a Muslim student who was told he could not wear a religious head piece as well as a few Zulu girls who could not wear their cultural animal bracelets they also insist in their parent teacher meetings that there is work being done when their isn’t they lie and deceive the parents of their learners and they will not take your part unless you look or speak like them overall this school is the worst ever so unless you looking to one for the rugby or netball please stay away for you’re own sake
I was in this school from grade 8 until matric, in grade 9 my friend fell sick at school and slipped into a diabetic coma, I ran to the office while others stayed in class with her, when I told the receptionist what was happening she told me my friend had to go to the office and ask for help in person. She refused to call an ambulance despite me pleading and continuously explaining the situation. I had to take my friend's phone, unlock it, call her dad and ask her dad to call an ambulance on his way to school because the school was refusing to help. By the time she got to the class we had asked other teachers for help and the ambulance, along with her dad, had arrived. And this is just ONE of the racist things that this woman had done. Instead of firing her, she got a promotion. My school had no black teachers until a year ago. All blacks were cleaners until three years ago when they promoted one and placed her in the finance office.my school closed half of the bathrooms when black kids started attending the school. They introduced a new code of conduct saying that Afros were not allowed at school. They occasionally told us to wash our hair because our dreadlocks were dirty. Black kids were not allowed to were make up or have their braids lose but it was all different for white kids. ever since black kids became majority of the school they've added more cameras and fences around the school. Public speaking was important until the black kids started participating. The quality of decipline has since decreated since 2015 when the first group of blacks were allowed into the school ( and they were reminded by students and teachers everyday that they weren't wanted there). Everytime we touched on racism during L.O, our teacher would take a moment to remind the black kids that his father was a soldier at a young age which made him a bigger victim that black people during the Apartheid. Don't get me wrong, the quality of education at the school in great, but so is their systems of shielding racism.
That's the best school I've ever been to...I mean the teachers, the school it's self, they don't take bullying lightly...but the thing is the primary that I come from had school dresses(tunic not sure if I spelt that right)as part of their uniform and i use to wear it everyday i was not use to a skirt...so i would have loved it if the school also had dresses...so we can choose if we're wearing skirts/dresses/school pants...that would make school life a lot easier
It is a nice school and has nice nice teachers but if they could care more about what the students need and how they could get better grades it would be much better
