Yeah NO....
I spent 5 years here and there wasn't a day where I didn't want to fling myself out of a window. Most of the students are horrible wannabe, stuck up, thinking they're living the frikkin life snobs. Please just chill out it's a school that no one outside of a 5 kilometre radius cares about. Some of the teachers are cool, but they keep leaving so I don't know if the teachers I had are still there. All the school cares about is you taking part in extra curriculars and if you don't they basically tell you everyday that you're not with the air you breathe, I didn't partake in anything as I would not live by their stereotypes. So yeah I definitely wouldn't recommend it to even my worst enemy. Hermie spirit please, no on CARES! please sedate these children.
I want to stay anonymous but I started going to hermanus high
Last year. At first I thought
it is going to be a horny school
but it was a school where I felt loved and supported I would give it 4 and a half stars
They are a good school if you want a good review for your college application or if you are good in sports and want to go to bolland this school let's you feel loved and honored best school🏫😊❤️ thank you hermies.
Typical case of bad apple spoils the bunch, a few toxic teachers/students that make this school unbearable in some instances.
It lacks a proper discipline system and most punishments are very biased based on gender. Female students get away with murder while male are subject to constant scrutiny.
Half the teachers don't agree with the decisions made concerning the school and the management is very conservative and close minded.
Unfortunately the former principal has left, an incredible one at that, and we are yet to find out about the new one.
I really appreciate thw facilities and the amazing staff that work at this high school and the ooportunities that I am provided with academically and sport wise. However, I realise that although they may prepare us for the academic and sport world, they do not prepare us for the world that we will grow up in, in terms of addressing the racial and gender inequality and mental health issues of the youth not only in the world we are growing up in but the school that we attend. There have been many incidents that have occured involving racism from teachers or students and instead of addressing these incidents to the school and acknowledging that they are unacceptable, it was dealt with quietly and behind closed doors. And unfortunately most of us had to deal with the devastating news of students at a different school committing suicide. This was heartbreaking for many, especially during exams and instead of our school aaddressing this and encouraging students to seek help if ever feeling depressed or expressing suicidal thoughts, there was not comment on this, even though many high school students experience these thoughts and actions. I love my school in many ways but I am also saddened by many things that either happen or don't happen at all. I want to one day look back on my school and think, "Wow! I went to a school that had zero tolerance for behaviour of inequality and considered the students that attended it on a mental, emotional and physical level. They really prepared me for how to think in life and I know my fellow pupils as well." At the moment I dont see that happening that saddens me. I hope that someone in my school sees this and actually thinks about what I am saying before immediately thinking that I am just a hating, negative person. Because that is not the case. This is not coming from a place of hate... but a place of love for the students of the school and their wellbeing. Because that's what we all deserve. To appreciated and have our painful thoughts and experiences acknowledged.
I would recommend goinh there to any learner, whether you're sporty, love acting, interested in cultural heritage or academically inclined. You'll love your time with the hermies, i guarantee
I am Inga Mfundisi, a proud scholar at the Hermanus High School currently doing grade 12. Coming from a small town called Hermanus I’ve always learnt to take every opportunity I get. This school has been recognized as the Dinaledi School (excellence in Maths and Sciences) by the Department of Education and I am truly proud of that. While maintaining an academic matrix pass rate of 99.4% this school continues to be a very well balanced school : offering extra curricular activities such as netball, Chess, hockey, drama, music, debate , rugby and the list goes on. What I appreciate about the school is the unity and the drive of achieving your fullest potential. Here at Hermanus High you can achieve anything, the sky is the limit. Because the school not only succeeds through the dedication of teachers but also learners and community members. Hermanus high school , packed with goal-driven minds is the school to be. Coming from an underprivileged community in Zwelihle , I will forever be grateful for being apart of this Hermie Magic. I would like to close of with our schools vision as the Matric Coincil of 2020 : “In unity through participation, good values and pride, we will inspire the Hermie Magic
Despite having great academic standards and sports programmes, they have some of the best teachers . The school can easily be classified as one of the best in the Western Cape.
