The school failed to help me when my grades were dropping. In reality the focus more on their reputation and not the standard of education. They tend to praise high achieving students and focus more on them. They do not take student mental health into consideration, and their is a lack of communication with teachers that harms the students marks. Basically you have to put in all the effort and rely on yourself and outer resources.
The school cares more bout there image than the well being of their students and has blatant favoritism everywhere you go.The school isn’t about what you can do it is about who you are and how you can make them appear better to the public. There is a lot that goes under covers to try and maintain the schools reputation and it is overall not a enjoyable experience for learners. There is also a huge smoking problem within the school and the school doesn’t seem to do to much to prevent it.They have over the top rules over the little minuscule things like uniform and hair. When they have a huge smoking and fighting problem with a massive divide between the students and a-lot of the staff particularly the people higher up. You can’t trust anything about the school and counselors are just the teachers way of saying we’ll pretend to care about our students. As almost all the counselors go in with so much ambition and drive to change the school for the better but within a couple weeks they realize that the school doesn’t care about there students only about how the public views them.Do not send your child here unless you are rich and extremely gifted academically or a talented athlete. If you are not the school will make your child depressed , anxious and feel worthless and not good enough.
Fourways is unfortunately failing as a school. the racism, homophobia and borderline pedophilia that lurks this school is scary. The male teacher's make female students uncomfortable, the white teachers discriminate against people of color and white students run around saying the n word without any consequences or disciplinary hearings meanwhile black bots get suspended for playing soccer. adding to that many of the sports feature favouritism especially from the weird male coaches who touch women inappropriately and the coaches who favour white people. the school focuses too much on their image and luring unknowing innocent children who will experience horrible horrible things at that school. major affirmative action and change is needed. i am glad to be finally leaving this year as this place has traumatised me.
The school is good. the people are friendly and most of the teachers are nice. one thing i do wish is that the teachers taught at a slower pace as many of the kids struggle to learn a topic within a day, especially when it comes to math and natural science. it’s a good school 7/10 recommend
Some of the teachers have no idea how to treat children and teenagers! If your child suffers with anxiety/ depression or any other mental states do not send them to this school as the teachers will treat them like outcasts and make them feel worthless!
The biggest problem with the school is how it appears to the outside, as in their media coverage. Honestly it’s too good to be true, only positive things really come up when you search the school. There is also internal problems which have lead to a diversity community being created. Often fights break out at school and staff are very strict on the filming on it. Overall the school is fine if you keep it low key, get on your teachers good side and follow the rules.
Fourways High is a terrible school. Black students get treated differently as opposed to white students. The number of times I have witnessed and experienced first hand a staff of the school be racist is unbelievable. I have had my assignment and other stuff dropped of in the office be disregarded and treated like trash. This is my fourth year in this school and I hate it and can’t wait to leave after I matriculate.
Discriminatory. Got accused of many things without proof and overall horrible experience at this school. Discipline depends on who you are. Everone in a hogh posotion in the school are hypocrites would never send any kids here.
it’s okay - sport is good, academics are too hectic for students, especially with extra curriculars. not all students are taken into account that needs to be changed. besides that best government school !
The school comes across really well it basically wows all the parents and students looking to enroll in the school yet the school is so concerned with their image that a teacher forced me to give her my phone to look through it just to make sure I didn't film a fight and just to add on to that their are students who sell weed, space cookies ect sometimes if you walk past the matric bathrooms you can smell peaple where smoking joints yet no one does anything
Good luck if you would like to enroll your child their
I find the school okay, but people I know and I have experience discrimination from the teachers there. They would discipline/treat people of colour different from caucasian student. It’s hard to try and strive and succeed when you are not treated the same as the student next to you, it’s just unfair. The school always wants to bring awareness to stuff like GBV or cancer awareness but avoid topics like racism and discrimination. It’s something that needs to be dealt with and that’s just one of their problems.

As a former student at this school, from my experience, the school provides a holistic balance of sporting, cultural and academic activities.
Personally, I would say it is one of the best government schools in Johannesburg. The school is highly invested and committed towards the overall development of its students. There is a great demand for parents to be able to send their children to this school, therefore translating to the fact that it is a great educational institution. I would say that the success of the school is heavily influenced by its leadership. The fields and sporting facilities are fantastic. A side note: you will never tire of watching sunsets after a sport or extra mural.
Racist, unjust. What more can I say. Most of the teachers are excellent but nothing is Done in the school to ensure the wellbeing of the students. Great injustice
It's horrible, the staff don't care about the students, they don't listen to the ideas we want to better the school and the vice principal is rude to me everyone
