Lack of Diversity and Inclusion

The school lacks diversity across the board - teachers, learners and representation. It is 2023 and classrooms are still predominantly white and here I am referring to classrooms only having 1 or 2 learners of other races. It makes makes me question the schools ethics and willingness to be more inclusive and represent South Africa. Even if you go to the website you only see white learners, parents and teachers. How are you adequately teaching kids diversity if this is all they know?

Great opportunities and values

Great school. Well rounded and holistic approach. They have competed nationally and internationally on sports and cultural level for years. Great balance between honing academic skills, and developing values and social/emotional skills. Advanced specialised subjects, like Computers and Robotics. Implemented a new class in 2022 that focuses on study & research (kids do practical, Google research on computers) in the first semester, and critical thinking and emotional intelligence in the second semesters. Many opportunities for those who enjoy taking part in certain activities, though they dont necessarily excel at it. Staff and leadership have an open door policy for parents and kids, and parents are invited to be involved in many school ventures. I am always very proud to be a part of this school when i see how well behaved the kids are at sporting and cultural events and tours.

Disappointed in Dville Primary

Very disappointed in Durbanville Primary, my child was bullied last year and the school did absolutely nothing about it. Teacher bully the kids as well, name calling and giving harsh punishment like making kids stand up in front of class and watch the other kids eat while they may not. Have vegan teachers who do not allow meat in their class and throw out the kids food. Making kids stand up in class and humiliating them in front of the other children. This school swears by morales and standards as well as no bullying allowed yet they do nothing. It’s 7 Afrikaans classes vs 3 English classes per grade but the English are definitely treated differently.

Terrible school

Absolutely horrible. Strictly Christian school, teachers and students will interrogate you if you do not adhere to their personal preferences. Several corrupt teachers, who pull students aside and yell at them when complained about or if the student complained about another teacher who just happened to do the same class. Terrible, never recommend. Dangerous outside areas, know several students who broke bones or got severely hurt by falling into pot holes etc. the school is also definitely not wheelchair or any disability friendly with its lots of stairs and little railings.
