It's alright. Some great facilities for arts & culture but the focus is very heavily on sports.
Very hypermasculine, traditional environment with a lot of pressure to conform which can be hard if those traits don't come naturally to you.
Very strict and a lot of rules are relics of a bygone past. As such they can be discriminatory towards people of colour or just not make sense at all. The hair policy is especially guilty of this.
Education is great and there are many opportunities to succeed if you're the right type of boy. That being a cishet sports star.
A decent option as far as schools go.
Honestly DHS trys to create the perfect image for the outer public, and when it comes to the students, many are complaining that they aren't happy and the staff and other people in charge will only have a little respect for the guys on scholarship and i myself was on a scholarship, but the main point is that yes DHS is a good school in the public eyes but a harsh school in terms of the students itself.
Apart from the lack of consistency in campus quality control, the school is exceptional compared my current school in Johannesburg. Arts and Culture participation is on a steady rise, so is the general awareness of current affairs and understanding current social situations. DHS is the perfect school to help instill character and cultural intelligence in your teenage boy.
Facilities are great such as the boarding house, music centre, gym and school theatre(seabrookes). Older classrooms need to be maintenanced and I personally feel air conditioners are needed in the older classrooms as the ceiling fans barely cool the classrooms. Other than that the school is great especially when it comes to experience being over 150 years old.The school has a rich history and produce young men of culture who strive in all aspects of life.

It’s alright , big facility, nothing special , most classrooms in semi bad condition , fans are slow on hot days it’s bad , but otherwise great opportunities and chances to have a successful career and life .
Good. The school makes you participate in all kinds of activities. Personally i do not like it. Facilities are great but whwn war cry practice everyone is too close together. Health hazards
