Still traumatized as an adult from my experiences at the primary school. Teachers do not do anything about bullying and even laugh along at it. Do not subject your child to this environment, this school will not care about them. Keep your child far away from Dane Gabin specifically, he was especially terrible towards me.
Curro Aurora does not care for its students. though it has a fairly good campus, Curro Aurora seems to only focus on the brand and what the school looks from the outside rather than the inside. They completely disregarded students as a whole and run the school as if it is a business. Learners are treated like robots with the workload that i dumped upon them which is often due in a short space of time. they are barley any break for students to breathe regardless of the grade. students are sometimes made to work/write exams on public holidays and weekdays. The school also lacks cultural activities, there is no sense of togetherness and grades are often divided rather than forming close relationships with one another. (speaking from the high school prospective). if you’re looking to be extremely unmotivated and just borderline depressed then Curro Aurora is the place for you!
I think Curro is a great school, but... The work load is a bit much, we have quite a lot due for just this week and sometimes we are expected to know certain things. Though, I must say, besides all that Curro Aurora is amazing... The teachers are very kind and so are the students. If you are looking at putting your child into Curro, I personally think it's a great idea, just make sure you're not very lazy and rather do assignments as soon as they are given to you.
Hope this review helped :)
We have been at the school for the past 5 years- and although it was originally not my first choice of school, I have been pleasantly surprised, and then blown away on they way they have handled 2020.
A great team of caring teachers and heads that care and have push for the best for their students.
My experience here was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Some aspects were wonderful and really contributed to my development, but others were disappointing.
By far, the best part of this school is the teachers. Not only did my academic performance improve vastly (to the point of graduating in the top 10), but every single teacher genuinely cares about YOU. They are always there to support you whether you're struggling academically or emotionally. To me, they were more than just tutors because of this, but became other adults that I could really trust.
I also really appreciate how this school aims to grow their cultural activities. The annual Curro Create is an absolute blast which caters for any cultural interest, including professional development and exposure which makes for an unforgettable experience and makes school life much more interesting.
However, school culture and spirit is extremely lacklustre. Most of the time it is clear that Curro's image is much more of a priority over the students and their happiness.
Conflict amongst students and higher ups are rampant due to this. There are hardly any school traditions (only one comes to mind).
Despite this, Curro Aurora tries their hardest to listen to student councils and get them involved... sometimes too much so where it can be detrimental. When I joined, there was no library for the high school, apparently because "no one used it". I found the lack of a library at a private school extremely shocking and disheartening. However, there is now a resource centre - but it only has books that cater to the primary school, is very small and has no computers. They are continuing to build facilities to bridge the gaps.
Overall, Curro Aurora often feels much more like a business than a school. If they could take another look at their priorities and continue to expand upon their culture, tradition and general school-ness, then I'm sure the students would be much happier.
