the response from the teacher was "what a brave boy" absolutely disgusting the way it was handled. None of the teachers took accountability for not contacting me, the incident report form was only filled in after I contacted the teacher and their nurse said it was strange as "she was not notified of this injury" after back and fourth with a very patronizing tone from the teachers end we heard that our son was also face down in the sand pit with that child standing on him before he hit our son in the head. So tell me how you trust your children in a space like this. When brought before their governing body nothing actually came of the "investigation" they promised. Had it been handled correctly, had a nurse been called and us notified to help our toddler or even the teachers not speaking in this condescending passive aggressive tone then my perspective would have been so different. However this school was the biggest disappointment of note. I have pictures and screenshots of the responses and injuries should anyone wish to query it.
Bullying at the school is not dealt with well, and there is favoritism amongst teachers for certain parents/families that can affect class dynamics with your kids. I attended this school from age 5 till matric and my children attended the kindergarten but I took them out to attend a different waldorf school. There were some amazing experiences and I can recommend the general Waldorf curriculum , but this particular school has a strange ethos and personal politics and I have witnessed the staff lying or not taking responsibility for their actions on numerous occasions spanning many years so that it forms part of the culture. There is less discipline academically than in some other Waldorf schools, although bright students will pull through and probably get good enough matks gor university. The grounds are beautiful, but ultimately I would recommend other Waldorf schools over this one. Although there are a couple amazing teachers on the staff, it isn't quite enough to make it worth it.
Best decision of my life was moving to Waldorf. People and teachers are all incredible however, I feel like some of the teachers teaching very important matric subjects aren’t very good.
Excellent school for your children to grow up the right way without having knowledge shoved down their throats. Would definitely recommend the process! The only problem is some of the new high school teachers. Some are simply not good teachers and others have adopted political agendas. So be cautious and request an interview before joining!
Our school is a place of creative energy. It is a place of language used as a mechanism to encode and decode the world and its numerous meanings. Our school is not limited to marks and forced content. Instead it is about being a human in a world that demands you value learnt, forced facts over inspired thoughtful thinking. To be a Waldorf child means to love learning and to grow to love yourself as an individual who loves to learn. My school is a sanctuary that respects each child as a human of infinite potential and possibilities for the breath that is life.
Waldorf is one of the best choices I have made in my life. They allowed me to grow and make mistakes. The only thing I would improve on is the organization of the school.
