Cliffview Primary falls short in various aspects, making it the least favorable choice among primary schools.
Academically, the school lags behind its counterparts. The teaching standards are subpar, with inadequate focus on imparting knowledge effectively. The absence of textbooks further exacerbates the problem, leaving students without essential references for learning. Additionally, the approach to testing lacks consistency and fairness.
Their sports program leaves much to be desired. Despite possessing adequate facilities, the school's participation in lower-tier leagues reflects a lack of commitment to developing students' athletic abilities.
Rather than investing in coaching and instruction, resources are often rented out for external profit, neglecting the holistic development of students.
Communication between the school and parents is severely lacking. Despite claims of an open-door policy, accessing teachers or the principal for discussions is challenging, if not impossible. The office staff's demeanor further compounds the issue, with reported instances of rudeness and a lack of respect towards parents.
External cricket and hockey coaches, while not part of the school staff, exhibit concerning behavior. Their lack of professionalism, demonstrated by inappropriate discussions in front of students and parents, raises questions about the school's oversight and standards in partnering with external entities.
In conclusion, Cliffview's deficiencies in academics, sports, and communication warrant serious consideration for prospective parents seeking a conducive educational environment for their children.
Probably the worst school I have come across with regards to sports, they continue to play the same schools that they can easily beat or better yet even when they do play a decent school which in the Cliffview perspective is their idolised school(Trinity), the games are cancelled or called off due weather(few drops of rain) , your kid will play at most probably 3 games for the term. Mind you they have good facilities but this is not used effectively. If you have a sporting kid please don't send him or her here, can't wait to take my kids out and put them In a school that atleast places some effort in their sporting codes. There is so many Afrikaans schools in the area that they could play but they will outright loose and that affects their win stats, Cliffview only plays games they know they can win. Academics average, my kids do well but please do not be fooled by this school, their outward appearance and aesthethics can blindfold you, there is better schools if you live within distance.
The school is very nice asthetically. My child loved school until this year the teachers have unreasonable expectations of grade 1 children, yes i have spoken to other parents who feel the same. Self esteem is being broken down at a early age. No parents meetings since covid. Teachers lack attention to detail. My child is not a number they are an individual.
I have lost confidence in a school i recommended so many parents too💔
I am a parent of a grade 1 and a grade 5 Cliffview learner. The school premises are clean, well maintained and safe. The gates are watched by diligent guards. The extra curricular activities range from seasonal sport like soccer, cricket and hockey to yoga, art, chess and computer club, just to name a few. Girls are encouraged to play soccer and cricket and there are no gender bias. The principle stresses discipline and this is evident when Cliffview learners attend events and excursions outside of the school. I have noticed that the learners have a great relationship with their teachers. There is a great aftercare program as well as a feeding scheme at affordable rates. During this pandemic the teachers have sent heartfelt messages to the learners and activities to keep them up to date and busy. I have noticed that each class is lovingly and thoughtfully decorated to promote learning. My daughter refers to the Cliffview family and she is only 6 years old. My son is motivated to learn. They are happy to go to school. The level of education is above average and the culture is to strive for the highest standard academically as well as in other extra curricular activities. I am proud that my children were accepted into Cliffview and the school has my utmost support.
