Academically it is an amazing school, that will open up many opportunities for you. There are some amazing people you will meet. Teachers? There are some amazing teachers who will understand you but others are completely racist. Students of colour always have to fight and correct everyone which gets really draining. I don't know how far they are with the changes that they promised, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. They don't care about your mental health trust me, it was hell for me and the guidance counselor told me it was a phase until they heard about my suicide attempt did they try to be "helpful". Either way you will have your good days and bad days with the school but it's alright.
don't. just don't. this school is a whole cult. we do not recommend. while the school as a whole trys to be liberal, most people in the school are very conservative and against homosexuality. lots of racism and anti anything except Christianity. the school is very much aware of the situation but does ziltch about it. please save yourself of the trauma and expensive depression you will endure during this 5 year period. it ain't worth it bby. stay safe my g and don't go to Clarendon The Cult.
sorry about the spelling. the school made me dyslexic <3
If we are talking about racial inclusivity then this school gets 0 points. The racism blatantly shows in the representation in management and sweeping all the matters under the rug. The only thing positive about this school is a few brilliant teachers however they are retiring soon. Please I beg rather send your daughter to another school where there is freedom of expression and there is not so much pressure to perform well. These issues are unhealthy for young girls' mental health.
This is not the school for any girl that is not wealthy or academically "smart". Your child should be strong headed and hearted. You have to be able to handle your own bullies because the school will NOT!!
Being at Clarendon has been amazing! The academics are some of the best and I am glad that I chose Clarendon for my high school experience. Clarendon is truly the only school for girls.
Clarendon's motto "Fac et Spera" stands for Work and Hope - and this reflects Clarendon as a whole. As we are in a country where woman are still seen as inferior, Clarendon is the perfect institution where they focus on the girls and nurture the girls into independent young ladies ready to conquer the world. Clarendon values itself on the traditions and impeccable academic standards it has produced over the past years. The class of 2019 worked extremely hard and thus placed Clarendon as first in the Eastern Cape. This would not have been possible if it weren't for the dedicated staff and hard-working young ladies. Clarendon is an all-rounder school. We have many girls placing in national teams for various sporting and cultural codes (ranging from water polo to dancing). It is encouraged that girls take part in atleast one sporting discipline as it is vital to exercise. There is always such a lovely atmosphere in the school and the girls are well-educated and informed. Clarendon encourages you to think critically and out-of-the-box, this is essential especially during this era. I want to commend Clarendon for handling issues with regards to bullying and teasing well. The only criticism I have is that there is a lot of emphasis on the sporting codes and that same importance is not placed on cultural codes. Besides that, thank you Clarendon, for shaping me and preparing me for the big world ahead.
Clarendon Is Truly The Only School For Girls!!! Every girl is able to become the best version of themselves in one of the the best education institutions in a South Africa.
