Worst school experience ive had with my kids in my life. There are some good teachers but mostly rude and abusive teachers. They are not equipped at all for kids with learning barriers like adhd . The principal is. Coward whos never available and doesnt show her face. They bombard you with emails daily which puts the parents under tremendous pressure. Demerits are handed out to the kids like nothing ive ever seen and mostly due to the teachers bad moods towards the kids. This school as a whole is not what they portray to be. Ive spoken to multiple learners and parents who feel the exact same. Dont send your kids here. There are better schools out there for that kind of money.
This school has made me want to self harm again and off myself numerous times. The teachers are the worst bullies you will ever meet and when we try to report it to the staff they either do nothing, or when they do something it's barely noticeable and the teachers continue to treat us horribly. Multiple teachers will tell you to feel miserable, blame their mistakes on you, pick on you, say one thing and then deny they even said it AND will not care about the workload or whether or not multiple assignments are due on the same day. I've had 3 assignments and a presentation due on the same day. Half the teachers will be sweet and happy to teach, which they do well, while the other half are horrible bullies that WILL berate and attack you on a daily basis.
i went to bergvliet throughout high school,
there were some very nice teachers who really impacted my life and had my best interest at heart.
But i feel like *** ***** doesn’t know how to run a school like bergvliet. he often cracks under pressure and as said before on this page by others he will take the sides of a parent without hearing the full story, and make irrational decisions to protect the schools name.
I seriously do not recommend sending your children here. While the teachers do try their best it is simply not a safe learning environment with gang wars and drugs often involved.
I attended Bergvliet High school from Grade 8 - Matric.
Although there are good students and teachers at the school, there are A LOT of students who are disrespectful and just blatantly rude to the teachers.
The school has a serious bullying problem and the principal refuses to take any action against it despite saying he will / is.
In my matric year I had a student threaten to kill me and when I stood up for myself, I was the only one who got in trouble because the principal seemed to be afraid of the student who threatened me's father.
When I brought it to his (the principal) attention that there were boys in other grades bullying me as well he ignored my complaints / reports.
Since I left the school, after matric, the boys from the other grades continued harassing me in my local park and this time threating me with rape and gang violence, calling me gay (when I'm not) and saying they will "beat the sh*t out of me" along with various other insults.
Once again I brought this up with the principal and he REFUSED to do anything about it.
I would not recommend sending your child to Bergvliet High School.
The school is pretty good. They try there very best and do an excellent job if you have a child without learning disabilities like ADHD. The school is rather disorganised when it comes too helping them. They make space for extra time and things like that but I still feel (as a person with ADHD) they could do a bit more. But there is a strong family feeling in the school and the teachers always try too help best they can.
Teachers are top class. Strive to help learners academically, emotionally and mentally. Always make decisions that are in the best interest of learners.
