Awful school. The North Korea of schools, the school Matilda attended, just an awful school. The first problem is that the school has SNAKES, and I found out as a parent by my daughter friend. She had just come back from the bathroom and came running to us, telling us about the snake head she saw peking out of the pipe. Around the area, the grade 9s are allocated to sit during break. The second problem is that the school has a clear favoritism problem, maybe racism. You can see how the principle has more enthusiasm around different learners compared to others. My favorite story is when my daughter came back home telling me a white boy had been saying n-word the whole day as if it was his new favorite song. This boy had said the N-word to his black classmates. So these learners had told the principle and she said, "Why are victimising yourselfs?" and "you're just being over dramatic." And told them to apologize to this white boy. The third reason the older kids are treated as if they are not in high school. I can understand that they only have a grade 9, but the school treats them as if they have not even entered high school by giving them a lack of freedom and kiddies activities. (The reason there is no grade 8 this year. By next year, say goodbye to the high school portion). The fourth reason the staff is underpaid. The P.E. teachers have no sort of qualification because they were originally just ground workers. You know, cutting grass fixing around the school, but the kicker is they still do all of that and teach P.E. from 4 to 9 getting they original salaries or how a teacher is teaching my daughter 5 subjects and many more stories like that. The fifth reason horrible with communication, it took them 5 weeks to put me on the class dojo to get school information, and they blamed my daughter for not participating in school activities and these are things she or me had ever heard about. The sixth reason I just don't like the there marketing strategy. Have you seen the school website, or what about social media presents helps out a lot? You might get more students, guys. The seventh reason the pick-up point it just horrible. I can't even put it in words. Please don't send your kids to this awful disgusting school. Ps Not all of the teachers are that bad like, for example, the english technology/Natrual science and math teacher are truly wonderful in my experience. Just have a bad place of work. To the school, do better, like stop this disappointing horseshit you call running a school
The North-Korea of r schools or that Trunchbull school from Matilda.
The school is awful. Just as bad as the school Matilda attended with a few Trunchbull teachers(not all the teachers are bad). Feel a clear favoritism problem maybe racism, lack of communication my daughter only got a 2 to 3 weeks notice before entrepreurs day (I DIDN'T EVEN GET A LETTER), lack of freedom for the older kids they are still treated as if they are in grade 5. ALSO FORGOT TO INFORM ME THERES SNAKES IN THE SCHOOL. A friend of my daughter had seen a snake head coming out of the pipe around the area where the grade 9s are allocated to sit during break. She had seen this coming back from the bathroom during a sports day. Last year, a snake fell from the tree onto the learner where the learners were having an assembly. (Again, not all the teachers are bad. Most are bad.) Just do not send your kids here, please 🙏. P.S. Most of the staff are underpayed, such as the ground workers and cleaners. Most do office jobs or work with your kids. For E.g, two of the ground workers teach P.E. and are still getting underpaid. A teacher was teaching me 5 subjects. This school is unfair to the students, parents, and staff
To be honest the school doesn't have that much School events. In term 1 of this year their was only two School events, sports day,Pickin day... that's it.But it is a lovely school with amazing teachers and students but please make the school fun for all the students ,like e.g Christmas market day,80's fashion day, colour festival(were people wear white and throw colours at each other),Easter egg hunt, Valentine's day and Spring day. Using the COVID-19 pandemic is not much of a excuse since the school follows strict COVID-19 protocols everyday but I hope the school does more school event in the next year.Love Bateleur College
Answer from Bateleur College
Thank you for raising your concerns. Covid has been extremely challenging with regards the events we were able to host due to strict lockdown protocols. We have managed to host our Sports Days, limited Parent/Teacher meetings, our Amazing Race Day, our School Play and Creative Arts Fesitval and our Masked Ball so far this year. These events allow parents to attend. Our normal events for learners such as Spring Day, Heritage Day, Easter, Christmas lunch, term-end picnics, LEGO workshops, Enrichment weeks and our cultural days (8 a year) have not been affected as these are held during school hours and learners and staff are able to participate. Our learners have not been negatively impacted at all this year and have enjoyed the full range of activities we offer annually. I hope that this clarifies how much is done at school that may not always be communicated to parents.
Moving our little guy to Bateleur College was one of the best decisions we ever made. He was previously at PLG and was bullied terribly. He hid away from people and stuck to himself. We explained this to Bateleur when we signed up and from day one,the love and care shown to Rogan was unbelievable. He came out of his shell, he has a wonderful group of friends, excels at his school work and he loves going to school.
On a personal note, the love and care shown to me when my hubby had Covid pneumonia was incredible. Chandre Roux, and Liesl Gouws, I can never thank you enough for your support.
As a parent, you will not regret sending your children to Bateleur College

We aim to be a small school with a big heart, thank you for confirming that we are delivering on our dream.
I have only had good experiences at Bateleur College since 2015. I have only admiration for the staff and management for the manner in which they coped in providing a full curriculum during lockdown. The learners were not impacted negatively at all. Well done to all involved.

Thank you for your review, and for highlighting our holistic and innovative approach to education.
Very disappointing. Terrible school to teach at. Owner is impossible to work for.
Answer from Bateleur College
You are right, the owner is a perfectionist and expects the very best from staff, learners and herself. 2020 was a challenging year, we had two sessions of students a day which was extremely hard for our educators. It must have been terrible working under those conditions and we truly appreciated everything our educators did under extremely trying conditions. We wish you a more peaceful year for 2021.
Not a happy place everyone that was there has all left the school
Answer from Bateleur College
Thank you for your input. We may have shrunk a bit in 2020 as a result of the pandemic, but we are still here. We have 139 learners and they definitely appear to be happy.
